Inspiring Hope
The CHESS Foundation
aims to promote access to opportunity and reduce obstacles to healthy and fulfilling lives.

Values
As donors and volunteers, we value organizations that take people from places of marginalization to opportunity, and which provide care, nourishment, connection, compassion, health, and belonging. We care deeply about our local community and those communities where we have lived and grown.
We value organizations that increase public health and safety, forge healthy futures, and protect the natural world. We believe in showing up for our neighbors.

Where We Serve
The Foundation has a special interest in supporting organizations in Westchester and New York, NY. We also regularly support organizations in areas of Connecticut, Maine, and Massachusetts.

About Us

Founded in 2013, by Scott and Caroline Wallach, the CHESS Foundation reflects their shared commitment to giving back, investing in the communities and causes that matter most to them, such as health, sustainability, education and empowerment, and civics and service.
Fun Fact: The Foundation’s name represents family initials and does not have any ties to the game of the same name!

Who We Serve
Our partners inspire us to learn more, to act, and to work smarter in our priority cause areas.
We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate the work of organizations that recently received support through our Youth Empowerment through Sports (YES) Grants and Access to Nature (A2N) Grants

Our Grants
The CHESS Foundation practices proactive philanthropy and actively invites organizations to submit requests for funding; however, no unsolicited requests are reviewed for funding.
When the Foundation issues a specific request for proposals in areas of special interest, the RFP will be linked here with instructions for submitting proposals.
